Joost started Berry Organic Sourdough Bakery in 2002 and is the name of our wholesale business – stocking cafes, restaurants and shops as far south as Bega, north to Southern Sydney and Canberra. We keep it traditional – our artisan bakers cut no corners when it comes to their method: Shaped and moulded by hand, our breads are left to rise for hours in willow baskets and baked to produce authentic European handcrafted sourdough.įlour water salt is the off spring of Joost Hilkemeijer and his wife Kirsty. We don’t add baker’s yeast, or anything else you wouldn’t expect – we believe good bread should be made using the purest of ingredients. Our organic bread is authentic sourdough as we use a natural leaven. The name says it all – our bread only contains three ingredients – organic flour, purified water and Australian sea salt. We don’t offer countless types of breads, cakes or sandwich varieties, just a few that we think are delicious and we hope that you will think so too.Īt the heart of our business is artisan sourdough.
